Met Police officers charged following death of heavily pregnant woman in crash

Police

Two police officers have been charged in connection with the death of a heavily pregnant woman and her unborn baby following a collision with a police vehicle in south east London.
The 38-year-old woman was killed on 17 October 2024, on Eltham Road, Eltham, when her car was involved in a collision with an unmarked police vehicle.
PC Chris Johnson, 56, the driver of the police vehicle involved, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
Former PC Danny Tomkins, 35, who was driving a second unmarked police vehicle, faces a charge of dangerous driving related to the standard of his driving.
Both officers are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 28 May 2026.
