A serving Met Police officer has been charged with rape and stalking.
PC Jake Cummings appeared in custody at Hatfield Magistrates' Court on Friday.
He is charged with rape, two counts of stalking, two counts of controlling and coercive behaviour and possession of an offensive weapon after an investigation by Hertfordshire Police.
He was remanded in custody to appear at St Albans Crown' Court on 26 March.
The alleged offences relate to a single victim and took place when PC Cummings was off duty.
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed.
The officer, attached to Central West Command, has been suspended from duty.
