Met Office Bonfire Night weather forecast predicts rain and strong winds

Weather experts are predicting a possibility of rain on Bonfire Night.

November got off to a wet and windy start as parts of the country felt the effects of a storm in France. Gusts of more than 70mph were seen in some coastal areas of England as strong winds hit southern coasts on Tuesday morning with the fallout of Storm Claudio.

The North East had a yellow weather warning in place as rain battered the region over Monday night. Now the Met Office is forecasting a mixed bag over the next few days, with some dry and bright spells as well as showers.

Temperatures in the North East are not expected to go above 13C over the coming week. And we could see occasional heavy showers or longer spells of rain. Scroll down to see the region's weather forecast for the coming five days.

Meanwhile, the UK's long range weather forecast, which runs from November 5 to 14, predicts unsettled weather conditions across the country. The Met Office says: "Rain and strong winds are likely for the majority on Saturday morning (November 5), with brighter conditions moving across from the west through the day. However, any dry spells will likely be interspersed with heavy, blustery showers with a risk of coastal gales.

"Remaining unsettled towards the end of the weekend, but possibly drier for some on Monday, especially further south. Changeable conditions will likely remain with further rain at times, sometimes heavy, for most areas.

"The wettest weather is most likely to be in the west and northwest. Staying windy at times across the UK with a risk of gales, especially in coastal areas. Temperatures at or slightly above average for the time of year."
