Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow ice warning for the entire country, with "hazardous" road conditions expected.
The alert will come into force at midnight tonight and is valid until 10am on St Stephen’s Day. According to the national forecaster, there will be icy patches in some places tonight and tomorrow morning, which will lead to "hazardous travelling conditions, especially on untreated roads and paths."
Meanwhile, heavy showers will continue across the country with a chance of with the chance of snow falling in some areas. Tonight will turn much colder with frost and icy stretches developing, with temperatures dipping as low as -1 degrees with northwesterly breezes easing light to moderate.

According to Met Eireann, tomorrow St Stephen's Day will see frost and icy conditions will linger in parts, leading to hazardous conditions. The national forecaster said: "It will be a cold and bright day with sunshine and scattered showers, some turning to sleet with snow possible over high ground.
"Highest temperatures will generally range from 3 to 7 degrees, coldest in the north, with moderate to fresh westerly winds." Conditions will be very unsettled over the coming days with rain and strong winds expected most days.
