Met Eireann has issued a new warning for Dublin and surrounding counties as 'severe' weather is expected for Thursday and Friday.
The Status Orange low temperature/ice warning was issued today for Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Munster and Connacht. The national forecaster has warned that extremely cold weather will hit Dublin and other counties on Thursday night.
The warning is valid from 6pm Thursday until midday Friday. Temperatures will drop to -5C bringing 'severe frost and ice'.

Many parts of the country are also bracing for a Status Orange warning for tonight. Temperatures are forecast to drop as low as -11C in some parts on Wednesday night.
Met Eireann forecaster Joanna Donnelly confirmed the severe temperatures, telling RTE: "I have the -7 widely in the forecast for overnight tonight, but it's going to be much colder than that in isolated areas, there's -11 showing up on my charts here."
Weather expert Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather warned that people living in Birr should expect temperatures to plummet as far as -11C. “Latest update of HARMONIE model from Met Éireann shows -11c forecast for Thursday morning near Birr,” he wrote on Twitter.
Tonight Dublin will see temperatures fall between -3C and -5C. Drivers are warned to take care tonight and tomorrow morning as ice is expected on roads.
Dublin City Council say they will be gritting roads and footpaths in priority locations, however "it will not be possible to treat all roads and footpaths, so please exercise caution."
