Good morning, folks! We hope you had a lovely Christmas.
St Stephen's Day is here and, sadly, Met Eireann has some bad news for us. A weather warning for ice is in place for Ireland today. The Status Yellow alert will be valid until 10 am this morning and the warning reads: "Ice in places tonight and tomorrow morning leading to hazardous travelling conditions, especially on untreated roads and paths."
Heavy rain and strong winds will lash the country over the next few days. Met Eireann's chaotic forecast reveals sleet and snow with thundery showers on Thursday.

Tonight will be cold and frosty with the mercury plunging to as low as -2 degrees but temperatures will overnight as cloud and rain spreads from the west with fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds. Tomorrow will be wet and windy with temperatures of 9 to 10 degrees.
There is no further forecast for Dublin and here's what Met Eireann's national outlook says:
Tuesday night

The rain will clear to frequent showers in the afternoon and early evening, becoming confined to western and northern coasts later.
Wednesday night
"Staying windy on Wednesday night with frequent showers or longer spells of rain affecting western and northern coastal areas. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees.
Thursday

Highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees in fresh to strong and gusty southwest to west winds.
Weekend
"Currently, it looks like Thursday night will see widespread rain across the country and the wet and windy theme continues for Friday and for next weekend with more rain or heavy showers and westerly winds."
