Mesut Ozil's reply to a fan who asked him what it was like to play with Cristiano Ronaldo was greeted with fits of laughter.
A fan approaches Ozil, who is being flanked by what looks like a security team, before asking the former Real Madrid playmaker what it was like to line-up alongside the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. Ozil's response got a laugh from everyone in attendance as he quipped: "Ask him, he played with me," breaking into a smirk before he carried on walking.
Ozil spent three years alongside Ronaldo at the Santiago Bernabeu before he eventually moved to Arsenal in September of 2013. The pair formed a deadly duo in the iconic white and gold kit, winning a LaLiga title, a Copa del Rey and a Supercopa de Espana before eventually parting ways.
Together, they worked in perfect tandem, with Ozil's extraordinary vision and passing ability a perfect match for Ronaldo's obscene goal-scoring ability. LaLiga defenders struggled to deal with the partnership over the course of their three years as team-mates in the Spanish capital.
Things have changed drastically for both since those days, with Ronaldo now plying his trade for Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Nassr while Ozil is reportedly on the brink of retirement.
The World Cup winner's career has declined drastically since leaving Arsenal in 2021, with his Gunners contract terminated six months before its end to seal a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce. However, a year later his deal with them was also ended prematurely after he was exiled from the squad.

Somehow, it looks as if less than a year into his time with Istanbul Basaksehir his contract may be terminated before its expiration for a third time in a row.
According to reports in Turkey, Ozil has decided he wants to call time on his illustrious playing career and hang up his boots for good. In a surprising twist, it is thought that Basaksehir are willing to terminate his deal and allow an early retirement.
In truth, the mercurial midfielder has been of little use to them since his arrival anyway. Ozil's time at his latest club has been hampered by injury, restricting him to just four Super Lig appearances this term.
It is a sad end for a player that managed to light up both LaLiga and the Premier League.
In a recent exclusive interview with Mirror Football, Ozil's agent Dr. Erkut Sogut explained how difficult the manner of the playmaker's Arsenal exit was on his mental health.
"It wasn’t easy for Mesut, though he is a strong player that has so much experience, he has seen so many things in life but is a human being like any other," Sogut claimed. "I think it made him a lot stronger in the end, going through that process."
