When Stuart Dallas was writhing around on the turf at Elland Road in the defeat to Manchester City, every home supporter feared the worst. Leeds United’s resident Swiss army knife is the last player who would feign injury which is why the look of discomfort on his face was particularly worrying.
A femoral fracture was confirmed to be the extent of the injury and surgery awaited the 31-year-old who will be set for a number of months out of action. He underwent the surgery earlier this week and took to social media on Tuesday to thank everyone who had passed on their support, as well as the medical team at Elland Road.
“Huge thank you for all of the messages I’ve received in the past few days,” he said on Twitter and Instagram. “I’ve had amazing support from across the world of football - but particularly from Leeds and Northern Ireland. I’d also like to thank Dr Williams, Dr Sarraf and the medical team at Leeds United.
