A memorial for missing Scottish RAF gunner Corrie McKeague will be held at his former base on Saturday, his family have said. The 23-year-old sparked a huge manhunt after going missing nearly six years ago from Suffolk, although an inquest held this year found that Corrie died after being crushed by a bin lorry in tragic circumstances.
The airman, originally from Dunfermline, Fife, has been stationed at RAF Honington when he went missing in the early hours of September 24, 2016. Jurors concluded that Corrie died as a result of "compression asphyxia' at around 4.20 am on the night of his disappearance.
The Daily Record report that Corrie's memorial is due to be held on August 6 at RAF Honington around 11am. Mum Nicola Urquhart has asked anyone planning to attend to wear bright colours.
