TWO pieces of memorabilia from a beloved Scottish TV series will go up for auction later this week.
The show Monarch of the Glen aired from 2000 to 2005 and told the story of the fictional Scottish estate of Glenbogle as the MacDonald family tried to maintain their ancestral home.
Martin Compston was among those to feature in the series and now two pieces of memorabilia from the programme are to go up for sale.
Auctioneers Anderson and Garland said the original set portrait of Hector Naysmith MacDonald (below), Laird of Glenbogle, will be among the items up for sale and is estimated to be worth between £200 and £300.
The deerstalker hat (below) worn by actor Richard Briers in his role as Hector Naysmith MacDonald will also be up for sale and is estimated to be worth a similar price.
Monarch of the Glen has seen something of a resurgence since all the episodes were uploaded to BBC iPlayer in 2023.
The portrait adorned the walls of the MacDonald family seat in the show while the deerstalker hat was famously worn by Briers in his portrayal of the laird.
The pieces will be part of Anderson and Garland’s Collectors’ Auction on July 4 2024.
Organisers said a key member of the show’s production team had consigned the pieces to auction and wants them to be displayed properly to be enjoyed by fans of the show.
