The Chicago Bears have an important, potential franchise-altering decision to make at quarterback this offseason — stick with Justin Fields or draft a rookie.
The strong belief in league circles is Chicago will draft USC quarterback Caleb Williams, who officially declared for the 2024 NFL draft, at first overall. If that’s the case, the Bears will look to trade Fields to a team that needs a quarterback.
One of the most popular teams linked to Fields is the Atlanta Falcons, who are in need of a quarterback and who just happen to be Fields’ hometown team.
ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. believes the Bears can get a first-round pick from the Falcons in exchange for Fields.
“If you trade Justin Fields to Atlanta, you could get the eighth overall pick,” Kiper said.

I think everyone would be surprised if the Bears were able to get a first-round pick — a top-10 one, at that — in a trade for Fields. A second-round selection would be the most ideal (and realistic) outcome.
Look no further than when the New York Jets traded Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers. They received second, fourth and sixth-round picks in exchange.
There’s no doubt there would be interest for Fields around the league, where Kiper noted teams to watch include the Falcons, Las Vegas Raiders, Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins.
