Meghan Markle is set to join Prince Harry at the Invictus Games next week, according to reports.

The Duchess of Sussex will travel to Holland to attend the event in The Hague in her first trip outside the US since leaving the royal family.

The Mirror reports that their overseas trip will be captured by a film crew shooting a Netflix documentary.

Harry and Meghan are expected to arrive in the Netherlands on Friday after travelling from their £11m Montecito mansion in California.

A source has fuelled speculation that Meghan could join Harry on stage for the opening ceremony by telling MailOnline there will be “a big surprise to launch the event”.

They continued: “Meghan is excited to travel with Harry for the event, which is certainly close to his heart.”

It comes just weeks after the Duke of Sussex faced criticism for not travelling from California to attend his grandfather Prince Philip’s memorial at Westminster Abbey.

Harry didn’t travel following a disagreement with the government over security protection.

He is pursuing a legal challenge against the Home Office after being told he would no longer be given the “same degree” of personal protective security as previously when visiting from the US.

Harry and Meghan signed a deal with streaming giant Netflix in 2020 reported to be worth more than £100m.

The Sussexes have founded their own production company and plan to make documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming for the streaming platform.

“Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope. As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us” a statement released by the couple read following the deal.

“Through our work with diverse communities and their environments, to shining a light on people and causes around the world, our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope.

“As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us, as is powerful storytelling through a truthful and relatable lens.”

While Meghan and Harry are expected to appear in some of the documentaries their production company makes, Meghan has previously stressed that she would not be returning to acting.

With Netflix’s 193 million subscribers worldwide, the Sussexes are set to have access to a large platform to promote their charitable causes.
