Maya Jama shushes former Love Island contestant after editing accusations

Love Island fans were taken aback last night (March 5) after noticing Maya Jama appearing to silence a former contestant. The Bristolian bombshell was on Aftersun presenting duties yesterday as she discussed all things Love Island, joined by series nine stars Olivia Hawkins and Maxwell Samuda.

The pair were dumped from the villa last week after new host Maya entered the luxurious South African retreat to reveal a plot twist. Before walking out the door, they were tasked with picking two other islanders to join them in going home.

Maxwell and Olivia had to decide between Claudia and Keanan, Rosie and Casey, and Tanya and Shaq - all three couples also received the fewest votes from the public. Ultimately, the pair decided that Claudia and Keanan should follow behind them as they left the villa.

Catching up with Maya on Aftersun, Olivia and Maxwell discussed their time in the villa. Reflecting on Casa Amor and Movie Night, Olivia appeared to expose the producers of Love Island, The Daily Star reports.

Olivia claimed that clips from Movie Night were edited, telling viewers that Samie reaction to her clip being played to the islanders was actually a reaction to a completely different clip. "I think the reaction from Samie, it wasn't to that clip, so..." Olivia began, before being swiftly shushed by Maya.

Viewers who watched the exchange from home were left slightly perplexed by Maya's reaction, expressing their confusion on Twitter. Busta Rhymes tweeted: "did olivia just expose movie night and maya shushed her…….."

Love Island continues on Tuesday, March 7 at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
