Max George and Maisie Smith continued to tease their adoring fans after he "popped the big question" during a romantic date night in Manchester.
The Wanted singer, 34, and former EastEnders star Maisie, 21, have been going from strength to strength since confirming their relationship last September, two years after first meeting on Strictly. In February, Max asked Maisie to move in by romantically planting house keys in a bag of pick’n’mix sweets.
On Wednesday, the loved-up couple documented date night at Frankie & Benny's via a video on TikTok on Thursday.
They enjoyed a large selection of food as part of the restaurant's Bring It Back series, which is inspired by iconic 2000s menu items which fans have been wanting to return for years.
As he was describing the array of foods and drinks on offer, he put a ring on Maisie's engagement finger, adding: "Then I popped the big question, pulled out the big guns". It was not as it seemed, though, as the singer swapped a diamond ring for a huge onion ring.
The couple came under heavy scrutiny following their " pregnancy announcement" on April Fools Day.
Maisie left her adoring followers gasping as she took to her Instagram stories to share a deceiving photo of herself and Max posing together while Maisie cradles her 'bump'.
Maisie and Max were seen peering down at her tummy - which was covered with a love heart emoji - while he held his hand to his mouth in disbelief.
Captioning the cryptic photo, Maisie penned: "We've got some really exciting news."
However, as excited fans scrolled to Maisie's next story, they soon realised what was happening.
Maisie removed the emoji from the second snap as she revealed: "I just had the best 5 course meal of my life."
Instead of being pregnant with an actual baby, the Strictly Come Dancing star joked that she was expecting a 'food baby'.
Their prank came just days after Maisie insisted Max is "the one" as she defended the 13-year age gap between them.
She said: "We have so many plans and I see so much of my future with him – stuff I didn’t even know I was capable of seeing. It still feels like the honeymoon stage. I don’t know at what point that ends, but we’re still there."
