Maureen Lipman says she won't "hear a word against" Coronation Street as she signed a contract extension.
The 76-year-old has played the grandmother of Tyrone Dobbs, Evelyn Plummer, since 2018. Her straight-talking character has earned Maureen a legion of fans, so many will be delighted to hear that she isn't leaving anytime soon.
Announcing the news, Maureen defended the show and her co-stars, calling them "exceptional". Speaking to Reader's Digest, Maureen said: "I won't hear a word against it. It's full of quite exceptional actors working with very little rehearsal, very little direction.

"Am I envious of some of my peers? Sometimes, yes. Do I have the right to be? Of course not. Would I like to be in Sex Education? Yes, of course.
"Am I sorry I've signed up with Corrie for another year? No, I'm not."
Away from Corrie, Maureen has starred in many films including Roman Polanski’s award winning film The Pianist, Educating Rita and Oklahoma. She has appeared in TV series such as All at Number 20, The Fugitives and Plebs.
She is also remembered for her role as Beatie in the 1980s BT Adverts. More recently, she appeared with Gyles Brandreth on Celebrity Gogglebox, but quit at the end of 2021 over claims Channel 4 show bosses didn't like her jokes.
Speaking to Radio Times about why she decided to leave the show, Maureen said: "I went in imagining that they wanted me for my wit and my brain. Of course, they just want to show you willies and for you to be shocked.
"Honestly, we were really funny together, but none of that was used. And if they don't want to use what we gave them, f*** them."
