Matthew Stafford questionable vs. Cardinals, could be game-time decision

Matthew Stafford was placed in the concussion protocol this week, a surprising move days after the Rams’ loss to the Buccaneers. Sean McVay didn’t rule him out for Week 10 against the Cardinals, and he still has a chance to play.

McVay said Friday that Stafford is questionable to play on Sunday and that he’s “making good progress.” He also added that Stafford will be a limited participant in practice Friday after sitting out the first two days.

McVay truly doesn’t know right now whether Stafford will play or not, but he said “it could go up to 90 minutes before kickoff,” potentially making him a game-time decision.

Stafford will need to clear the league’s concussion protocol in order to play. McVay said even if he does clear the protocol, it’s not certain he’ll play. That will also come down to how Stafford and his family feel about him taking the field.

So it’s a fluid situation that could go right up until inactives are announced 90 minutes before kickoff. If Stafford can’t go, John Wolford would likely get the start.
