Matt O'Riley Brighton contract and Celtic transfer fee 'revealed'

Matt O'Riley will sign a five-year contract at Brighton today, according to a report.

The midfielder, 23, is in England to finalise a record-breaking transfer switch from Celtic this week.

Brendan Rodgers confirmed a medical was taking place on Sunday with O'Riley missing the win over St Mirren in Paisley as a deal edges closer.

Now, Sky Sports have reported O'Riley has passed his medical with his contract to be signed officially today.

It's reported Celtic will receive a £30m deal from Brighton in order for O'Riley to join the Premier League club.

The fee will smash the Scottish transfer record with an initial £26m payment and £4m in add-ons, according to Sky.

Celtic previously banked £25m in deals for Kieran Tierney and Jota but those numbers will be eclipsed by O'Riley's departure.

O'Riley's five year deal at Brighton is thought to include the option of a further year.

Rodgers said of O'Riley on Sunday: "He'll be down in Brighton completing his medical. That move should be done over the course of the next couple of days.

"He has been absolutely magnificent in this last year. He gave everything to the team and the club.

"Right up to his very last day he was out doing extra work. That shows the mentality he has.

"So, I'm pleased for Matt in terms that he gets a move to the Premier League - and for us, we push on. That's the model of the club."
