And although there were tons of tempting treats put together by the amateur bakers, many couldn't help but notice that Matt had shed a serious amount of weight.

“Sorry quick side note Matt Lucas looks incredible.” tweeted one user.

Another commented: “Holy heck at the weight loss of Matt Lucas – he looks really well.”

And it turns out that it was a Bake Off-related incident which kickstarted Matt's journey to shedding the pounds.

Last month, Apprentice star Alan Sugar tweeted: "Wow @RealMattLucas has lost so much weight", - prompting Matt to reply with why he changed his lifestyle choices.

"Thanks. Basically I was already pretty big and then I went into a large white tent and ate most of the cake inside," he wrote.

Tuesday evening's episode saw Polish PA Janusz crowned Star Baker in Cake Week.

But former charity worker Will had a nightmare in both his technical and the showstopper challenge, leading Paul and Prue to send him home as the first elimination of the 2022 series.
