Matt Hancock heading into the I'm A Celebrity camp today after Olivia Attwood's shock exit

Matt Hancock will be entering the I'm A Celebrity jungle later today, Tuesday November 8, it has been confirmed.

The former Health Secretary will be joining the latest ITV series as a late arrival, along with comedian and Strictly star Seann Walsh, as teased by Ant and Dec during the first episode. The MP will join the original campmates, including Jill Scott, Boy George and Charlene White, in a move that is expected to cause a huge stir in camp.

It has been reported that the arrival of the two new campmates has been brought forward following contestant Olivia Attwood's shock exit from the jungle after just one day. The Love Island star said that she was "heartbroken" after being told by the show's medical team that it was not safe for her to return to camp.

Matt Hancock's arrival was hinted at by Ant and Dec on Sunday, with Ant sarcastically telling viewers: "We've also got not one, but two late arrivals - and fortunately, we've managed to keep their identities a compete secret. Nobody's got a clue who they are."

Dec added: "You're going to be so surprised guys. We're going to be rolling out the welcome MATT for them very soon."

The West Suffolk MP had the Tory whip suspended after it was confirmed that he had signed up for I'm A Celeb, and sparked outrage among members of the public for his decision with more than 43,000 people signing a petition to stop him joining the show. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak even said that he was "very disappointed" in Hancock for heading into the jungle rather than spending time in his constituency.

It's already thought that Hancock could set a new record on the show when it comes to votes from the public, with bookies predicting that he will be picked to do the most Bushtucker Trials of any contestant. The current record is seven in a row by Naughty Boy last year, followed by Katie Price who did six when she returned to the jungle in series nine.

Meanwhile, Sunderland football legend Jill Scott has become an early favourite to be crowned Queen of the Jungle after impressing viewers with her nerves of steel during the very first challenge. The Lioness was hailed as a "national treasure" by viewers after smashing the terrifying task of walking along a ledge overlooking a 334-foot drop to the ground.
