Matalan has launched a new competition which could help one lucky winner to ease the financial squeeze of the upcoming energy bill price hike in April.
Ofgem recently announced that gas and electricity bills for around 22 million households on standard tariffs across Scotland and the rest of the UK are set to rise by £693 to £1,971 from April 1, while homes using prepayment meters will see costs go up by £708 to £2,017.
However, Matalan is looking for an official Dressing Gown Tester and part of the prize draw winnings include having your heating bills paid for an entire year - worth £1,338 - which will be paid as a cash lump sum after the competition closes on February 21.
The cash prize of £1,138 is based on Ofgem’s November analysis of the average UK energy bill and falls short by £833 of the planned rise in April, but there’s no denying it would help take a bit of financial pressure off any household budget.
Matalan will send one lucky winner four dressing gowns to test out over the course of four weeks, and all they have to do is report back to the popular high street retailer on factors such as look, feel, and snuggliness of each product.
In return, Matalan will pay your heating bill for a full year.
The winner not only gets to keep the dressing gowns but will also receive a ‘Cosy Bundle’ full of prizes, for the ultimate night in.
These include:
- A large throw blanket
- Slippers
- Candles
- A duvet and pillowcase set
How to enter the competition
The prize draw is open to any UK resident aged over 18.
Entering is simple and just involves entering your name, gender and email address - make sure you enter this correctly as that’s how Matalan will contact the winner after the draw takes place on Tuesday, February 22.
The closing date of the prize draw is 11:59pm on Monday February 21, 2022.
