Khanh Ong has responded to a popular Reddit post that pitched a MasterChef Australia spinoff show involving him and current judge Jean-Christophe Novelli.
Donning both their producer and chef hat, one fan took to Reddit earlier this month to outline a TV spinoff that would follow Khanh — who has appeared on two seasons of MasterChef — as he travels to foodie hotspots across the country with Jean-Christophe by his side.
“Then they could go back to a kitchen to cook their own dishes inspired by [their travels],” the fan wrote.
Going even further with the pitch, the Redditor explained the “many cross marketing opportunities” of their idea, including promoting Aussie restaurants and cafes or potentially visiting some “establishments owned by MasterChef alum”.
The cherry on top of the pitch? “Maggie Beer produces it”. Well, now I’m definitely sold!
The post was flooded with supporters, who described the spinoff idea as “brilliant”, said they’d “watch that for sure”, or declared that it simply “needs to happen”.
I'd totally watch a show with just Khan and JC 😂

Though no such project is officially in the works, Khanh has confirmed he’d be down to pursue the pitch, even if it’s just in fans’ imaginations at this stage.
“Jean-Christophe is an absolute superstar and I’m flattered,” Khanh told PEDESTRIAN.TV. “I would love to take Jean-Christophe around Australia.”
While he’d hypothetically be on board for the spinoff, Kahnh did say the match-up with Jean-Christophe would be a bit of an oddball pairing (which is exactly why fans froth it).
“I feel I would confuse him so much,” Khanh said. “The chaos would be fun though.”
Jean-Christophe is currently appearing in the ongoing 18th season of MasterChef, where he’s joined by fellow judges Andy Allen, Poh Ling Yeow and Sofia Levin.
For his part, Khanh featured in this season as a guest judge, and later told PEDESTRIAN.TV that he was “so nervous” to reappear on the competition show.
“It all comes flooding back to you. It’s like PTSD… I really enjoyed myself,” he said.

Khanh joined a starry roster of other MasterChef season 18 guest judges including Meghan Markle, Jimmy Barnes and Robert Irwin.
No word yet on whether producers will greenlight the fan’s Khanh and Jean-Christophe travel show, but if they’re reading this, GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT!
