Mason Mount has explained why he favoured a move to Manchester United over Liverpool this summer.
United confirmed the signing of Mount from Chelsea on Wednesday. He is Erik ten Hag's first signing of the summer in a deal worth an initial £55m, with a possible £5m in add-ons.
The England international has signed a five-year deal at Old Trafford that runs until the summer of 2028 and has the option to be extended by a further year. Mount’s move to Manchester brings his 18-year association with Chelsea, during which he won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, to an end.
Liverpool were known admirers of the player who, aged 24 and qualifying as a homegrown player, fitted the profile required by both Fenway Sports Group and the recruitment team as they look to overhaul Jurgen Klopp's engine room.

However, the Reds turned their attention elsewhere once it became known that Mount was only interested in a move to Old Trafford r. The Reds have already signed both Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai so far in this transfer window.
And in his first interview since completing his move to Old Trafford, Mount, speaking to MUTV, revealed why he was so keen to join United this summer.
He said: "Several months ago, it became clear I wasn't in Chelsea's plans going forward, and once I knew United were involved, my decision was made up.
"Massive club, huge iconic players that have played here, and I wanted to be part of that from the beginning. Getting here early ready for pre-season to start was a main objective of mine as well."
