Mason Mount sidestepped questions over a switch to Manchester United amid links with a move to Liverpool.
The 24-year-old has seemingly stepped foot on the Stamford Bridge pitch for the final time as a Chelsea player after negotiations over a new deal went cold. Liverpool had initially become early favourites to sign the England international after monitoring the situation in west London.
But in recent weeks, the Red Devils have reportedly stolen a march in the pursuit of the midfielder. Football London reported that Liverpool did a lot of the groundwork to forge the deal but now Erik ten Hag's side are said to be frontrunners.

Prior to the Spanish Grand Prix in Catalunya, Mount was quizzed over his future during Martin Brundle's pit-walk. After a brief chat with Chelsea teammate Ben Chilwell, the former Formula One driver turned his attention to the in-demand Londoners star.
"He said you're going to Manchester United," was the 64-year-old's response to Mount asking what the full-back had said in his interview.
However, the Portsmouth-born playmaker batted off the speculation and said: "I'm here to just enjoy this race today. It's an amazing day, I can't wait to watch it."
At Anfield, three midfielders are out of contract this summer which has sparked the Reds into action in the transfer window. The midfield department has come under fire this season and with change afoot for Jurgen Klopp's squad.
Jude Bellingham was targeted for a move but the pursuit was soon shelved after figures north of £120m were slapped on the 19-year-old's head. In recent weeks, there has been progress in the move for Brighton & Hove Albion star Alexis Mac Allister and in a video posted on Saturday, it appeared his cousin had all-but revealed the secret.
Khephren Thuram and Manu Kone are two names mooted in French and German media respectively, with reports suggesting the Reds are monitoring the France U21 internationals.
