Mason Mount's move to Manchester United has drawn closer, with the England star arriving at the club's trainng base.
Mount, 24, is set to join United in a deal worth an initial £55m with a further £5m in add-ons, and was spotted arriving at the Red Devils' Carrington training base on Monday. The move comes after the Chelsea academy product entered the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge.
The England international will become United's first signing under manager Erik ten Hag this summer. United have, however, already confirmed a number of departures - with goalkeeper David de Gea seeing his contract run down.
United and Chelsea had been engaged in negotiations over Mount, who first joined the London club as a child. The Blues were thought to be holding out for £58m plus £7m in add-ons before eventually reaching a compromise.
The 24-year-old will join England team-mates including Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw at Old Trafford. Mount has missed some of the Three Lions' recent games through injury, but was part of the squad which reached the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup.
United continue to be linked with a number of other summer recruits as they prepare for Champions League football to return to Old Trafford. One man who could follow Mount to the club is Marcel Sabitzer, who has been linked with a permanent move after impressing on loan last term.
A new striker is also on Ten Hag's shopping list this summer, with United not expected to tie down Wout Weghorst to a permanent deal. Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund is one of the names to be linked, while there have also been continued reports surrounding England captain Harry Kane.
Any move for Kane might be tough, though, given United's budget restrictions. The same goes for fellow frontmen Victor Osimhen and Randal Kolo Muani, both of whom would command substantial fees.
As for Chelsea, the sale of Mount would continue a busy summer of sales which has seen the Blues already recoup more than £100m through transfer fees. The highest-profile exit saw Kai Havertz join Arsenal in a £65m deal, while Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy are among the other stars to play their final game for the London side.
Chelsea, who are readying themselves for a first Premier League season under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, have also made their first summer signings. Christopher Nkunku's arrival from RB Leipzig has finally been made official, while Villarreal's promising young forward Nicolas Jackson has also arrived at Stamford Bridge.
