'Masked man' seen running from pharmacy in Scots town after attempted robbery

A 'masked man' was seen running from a pharmacy after an attempted robbery in Grangemouth this afternoon.

Officers were alerted to the incident at around 4.35pm on February 6 at the Rowlands Pharmacy on Charlotte Dundas Court in the town.

Nothing was stolen during the incident and police have now launched a probe to find those responsible, with a description of the person released by cops on Tuesday.

Speaking to the Record, a bystander said: “I was standing having a cigarette at my window and saw the guy running out of the chemist - they had a balaclava type thing over their head and it covered their face.

“They ran off and then minutes later loads of police arrived and went running into the chemist. They they put all the tape up and have been here since.”

Police are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time who might have information to help trace the man. He is described as white, around 40 years old, 5ft 5in tall, of slim build, wearing a dark coloured buff or similar pulled up to the bridge of his nose. He had a dark blue rain jacket on with the hood up, light blue jeans, and white trainers.

Police Scotland confirmed they have launched a prone into the incident. (Daily Record)

Detective Sergeant Chris Scott, of Falkirk CID, said: "We are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time or who have seen this male acting suspiciously to come forward.

"We believe he was in the area for some time leading up to the incident. We are also keen to hear from anyone who was driving in the area at the time who may have dash cam footage or private CCTV which may prove vital to our enquiries."

Rowlands Pharmacy has been approached for comment.
