Marvel Rivals unveils Path to Doomsday roadmap tied to Avengers saga

Marvel Rivals has revealed its Path to Doomsday roadmap for 2026, which includes new game modes and in-game events inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Infinity Saga.

The roadmap begins in April, culminating in a larger content push planned for December, coinciding with the release of Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026.

The first Marvel Rivals major event kicks off in April with a crossover themed around the original Avengers film. As part of the event, players will be able to jump into a limited-time asymmetrical PvP mode centered around Loki. In this mode, one player takes control of Loki, while six other players step into the roles of different heroes, likely the original Avengers, all of whom are already part of the game’s existing in-game roster.

However, Loki isn’t a regular hero in this mode. He comes equipped with a completely new skill set designed around signature deception and trickery, featuring illusions, mind control effects, and abilities tied to the Infinity Stones. He can also manipulate opponents and even turn heroes against one another using his abilities.

Rather than a traditional match, the six heroes must work together to defeat the God of Mischief before he overwhelms them. By completing certain objectives during the match, players can summon Hulk, recreating the iconic scene from the original Avengers film where he calls Loki a “puny god.”

The Path to Doomsday roadmap signals a broader content arc for the title, with multiple themed updates planned across the year. Each event will draw inspiration from major moments in the MCU’s Infinity Saga while gradually building hype for the December update tied to Avengers: Doomsday.

While details for later events have not been fully revealed, the roadmap suggests that new modes, themed events, and other in-game content will be rolled out. The developer also teased upcoming additions on X, hinting that a “master thief and secret agent” are on the way, which could point to Black Cat and White Fox arriving in Season 7.

Before that, players will first need to master Loki’s mind games or take him down when the Avengers PvP game mode launches in April, setting the stage for what could be the game’s biggest narrative-driven content arc yet for the MCU films.
