Season 9 is a major update with fresh changes and the kind of gameplay shake-up that usually gives players a reason to jump back in right away. Expect a new Battle Pass, a new map, a hero rework, balance updates, and more content arriving alongside the launch.

The biggest update with Season 9 is the introduction of Regenerative Shields, a new health type that slowly regenerates after players avoid damage for a few seconds. It also shows broad tuning to Ultimate Ability energy generation, with damage-to-energy conversion reduced for Vanguards, Duelists, and Strategists.

Several Heroes, including Captain America, Groot, Hulk, The Thing, Venom, and Doctor Strange, receive health or shield changes, while damage dealers and hybrid heroes such as Angela, Peni Parker, Devil Dinosaur, Thor, Deadpool, and Rogue also get targeted buffs or nerfs. The overall direction seems to be reducing extreme durability in some heroes while giving others more survivability or better team utility.
