Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 brings a ton of new content throughout August and early September.
The update adds The Hood as a new Vanguard, limited-time events, themed costumes, new emotes, accessories, and a major X-Men ’97 collaboration. NetEase has also revealed when each of them will arrive before Season 10.0 begins.

Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 release schedule
The Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 roadmap begins Aug. 7 and runs through Sept. 11. Most of the content will launch weekly, meaning you’ll have something new almost every Thursday.

The Hood is the main addition in the Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 update. He will be the new Hero added to the roster on Aug. 7. As with every new hero, The Hood will evolve team compositions and the early-season meta.
The Hood’s arrival is also being supported by several themed cosmetic items. The store lineup includes a PvO bundle featuring The Hood, Black Bolt, Iron Fist, and Moon Knight, with the characters receiving the Silent Blackout, Furious Flow, and Fist of Khonshu themed looks.
The Creed of Akkaba event will also begin on Aug. 7. Not every reward or challenge connected to the event is known yet, but it suggests a direct connection to the X-Men and the long-running mythology surrounding Clan Akkaba.
Players should check the event menu when Season 9.5 launches for objectives, available rewards, and the end date. The first content wave also includes a Magik plush accessory and the Devil Dinosaur – Best Buddies emote.
Swimsuit Special arrives on August 14
The second major content wave arrives on Aug. 14 with Swimsuit Special new costumes for Scarlet Witch, Magik, and Storm.
The Krakoan Reels Vol. 2 event will launch on the same day. Its title links the event to Krakoa, the mutant nation featured heavily in modern X-Men stories.

Marvel Rivals will receive another group of costumes and visual updates on August 21. This wave includes:
- Black Widow’s Aquatic Assassin custom appearance
- Black Widow’s ultimate ability visual effects
- Cyclops and Phoenix’s Hellfire Gala costumes
- Daredevil’s Attorney at Law costume
The Hellfire Gala costumes are based on the stylish mutant fashion event from Marvel Comics, while Daredevil’s Attorney at Law look gives him a more formal take on his civilian identity.
Peni Parker, Squirrel Girl, and Cloak cosmetics
Aug. 28 focuses on another set of character costumes. We’ll get new looks for Peni Parker, Squirrel Girl, and Cloak, including the following themes:
- Peni Parker: Van Dyne Designs
- Squirrel Girl: Queen of Hell
- Cloak: Clan Akkaba
Peni Parker’s costume appears to draw from the wider Marvel design world, while Squirrel Girl’s Queen of Hell look gives the character a much darker style.
X-Men ’97 Season 2 collaboration
The biggest collab in the Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 roadmap is scheduled for Sept 4, as the update will add X-Men ’97 Season 2 and Ultron Street Style costumes.
The X-Men ’97 costume uses a distinctive visual style inspired by the classic X-Men era. Ultron’s Street Style costume will arrive during the same content wave. It gives the villain a more modern look and adds another skin option.
When does Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 end?
According to the roadmap, Sept. 11 is the final date listed for Season 9.5 content, marked “Coming Soon” and teasing Season 10.0. Although the roadmap does not provide a full launch breakdown for the next season.

Season 9.5 will act as a bridge between the current season and the next major update. More details about Season 10.0, including its new hero, battle pass, map changes, and events, will be revealed closer to launch.
