Martin Scorsese, at 81 years old, is gearing up for his next projects, showing no signs of slowing down. One of his potential projects involves reuniting with Leonardo DiCaprio for a biopic about Frank Sinatra. The film would also star Jennifer Lawrence, who worked with DiCaprio in Don't Look Up.
Scorsese envisions DiCaprio portraying Sinatra and Lawrence playing Ava Gardner, Sinatra's second wife. The director plans to film this project alongside another passion project, A Life of Jesus, based on Shusaku Endo’s novel. Several studios and streamers are interested in the biopic due to the star power of the leads, with Sony Pictures currently leading the charge.
However, there is a hurdle in the project's path as Sinatra's daughter, Tina Sinatra, holds control over his estate and has not yet given her approval. Despite this, Scorsese is moving forward with the film as one of his potential next projects.
Scorsese's immediate focus seems to be on A Life of Jesus, which he plans to independently finance, similar to his approach with Silence in 2016. The film is expected to feature Andrew Garfield and Miles Teller and will be shot in Israel, Italy, and Europe later this year.
Additionally, Scorsese has The Wager in development for Apple TV+, with DiCaprio set to star. If all these projects come to fruition, it would mark the eighth collaboration between Scorsese and DiCaprio.
On the television front, Scorsese is set to direct a biblical series for Fox Nation and produce a Cape Fear limited series with Steven Spielberg for Apple TV+. The latter is a remake of the 1991 film starring Robert De Niro.
With a plethora of projects in the pipeline, Scorsese continues to cement his status as a prolific and influential figure in the entertainment industry.
