Australia's Logan Martin remains the king of freestyle BMX ahead of his Olympic title defence next year in Paris, having won the World Cup crown.

The 29-year-old recovered from a crash to win the last round of the World Cup near his home on the Gold Coast and claim the overall title.

The Gold Coast event was also the first World Cup qualifying fixture for the Paris Games.

Martin, who won the gold medal at freestyle's Olympic debut last year in Tokyo, produced a near-perfect ride to snare his home Gold Coast round, scoring 96.9.

Anthony Jeanjean of France was next on 95.3 and Japan's Rimu Nakamura had a top score of 94.4 for third.

Martin's win also meant he took the World Cup title from Jeanjean, who had led ahead of the Gold Coast round.

The Australian dedicated the win to his late father Sean, who died in September.
