Martin Odegaard injury: Arsenal learn new update as Norway team-mate seeks revenge

Martin Odegaard's Norway team-mate is seeking to avenge his stricken captain after seeing the Arsenal star seemingly suffer a serious injury.

Odegaard appeared to twist his left ankle during a challenge with Austria's Christoph Baumgartner on Monday night, and immediately required medical attention before being helped with the pitch.

It is a blow to Norway and, more urgently, Arsenal, who face daunting away trips to Tottenham, Atalanta and Manchester City across the next 12 days - starting at their north London rivals on Sunday.

Odegaard has returned to Arsenal for scans on his ankle but his participation on Sunday is firmly in doubt, and Norway team-mate Leo Skiri Ostigard has voiced his anger at Baumgartner.

"I think there were a lot of strange things there," is reportedly told NRK. "I would have liked to have a duel against the guy who took Ødda out and show him what it’s like to get one back."

Asked for clarity on what he meant, Ostigard added: "I’m not going to say that here."

Ostigard was then asked for his view on the extent of Odegaard's injury, and admitted "it wasn't very good."

He said: "We really have to hope that it passes quickly and that he is back both for Arsenal and for us."
