Martin Lewis shares 'codes' to get cheaper supermarket shop and free food

Martin Lewis has shared the "codes" which can help you save money on your food shop and get you free food.

Speaking on his recent BBC podcast episode, the Money Saving Expert urged listeners to take advantage of the deals currently on offer at Tesco and Morrisons.

The UK's largest supermarket Tesco is currently offering customers £5 off when they spend £15 or more on certain frozen food when using the code "GR4PYL".

The offer is only available for those doing their food shop online as the coupon code is an e-voucher.

Martin explained: "There are 150 eligible items including Birdseye, McCain, Goodfellas and Aunt Bessie's Yorkshires, which as I haven't had lunch yet is making me feel rather hungry.

"Products included in the offer will show a £5 off £15 or more shop on selected frozen foods.

"In other words, you'll see it when you go to the website.

"If you're doing that anyway, you might as well see if you can get a fiver off."

The £5 discount is currently live and will be available until Monday, May 8.

The Money Saving Expert also shared a tip for Morrisons shoppers.

The supermarket has recently teamed up with Heinz to bring back its "Ask for Henry" campaign at its Morrisons Cafes.

It first launched in October last year in Morrisons Cafes across the UK to help those struggling with the rising cost of living.

The "Ask for Henry" campaign allows people to get a free meal of jacket potato, beans and salad by asking a member of Morrisons Cafe team for Henry - an no questions will be asked.

Martin explained: "If you're visiting a Morrisons Café, you can get a completely free jacket potato and beans, normally costs around a fiver, until Sunday, May 7.

"This is about a promotion it's doing with Heinz and it's hoping to provide hot meals to those who would otherwise struggle to afford it or just give a little bit of respite.

"So do spread the word if you know of anyone who would like a little bit of hot food at the moment. It is a total freebie, there is no minimum spend required.

"It is limited to one free jacket potato and beans per customer, per day. To claim the deal all you need to do is 'Ask for Henry' at the checkout.

"And if you're wondering, Henry Heinz was the founder of Heinz, who make the beans."
