Martin Lewis has stressed many times that he does not do adverts, as many companies use fake adverts with Martin's face to try to convince people they are legit, before scamming them. While appearing on ITV1's morning show, This Morning, Martin was asked what a caller, John, could do after losing £12,900 to a scam that used Martin as an advert.
The money-saving expert gave viewers a stern warning about scams and said he "feels sick" that John lost so much money. He said: "If you see any advert online with me in it, it is a lie. It is thieves trying to steal your money. Please do not go near it."
He added: "I am devastated, I've been warning as loudly as I can about this for years and every time I hear a story like that it just makes me feel slightly sick if I am really honest with you." Unfortunately, Martin did not have a lot of advice for John but advised that John visited Citizen's Advice consumer helpline.
