Martin Lewis expects energy prices to reduce from the summer and continue falling until the end of the year.
The Money Saving Expert joined This Morning to discuss price hikes expected to take place in April. The energy price cap will actually fall by 23% to £3,280 a year for a typical household, but this is not hugely significant, as energy bills are currently controlled by the energy price guarantee (EPG) – and this is set to rise by 20% from 1 April.
Martin urged Jeremy Hunt to postpone the change until July when prices are expected to lower again, with 70 organisations backing his plea. He said: "Where we are now is £2,500 pounds, but the government says we're going up to £3,000 in April. I'm campaigning for it to stay at £2,500 pounds. The prediction is, from July, it will actually drop from £2,500 to £2,160, which will include July, August and September."

Households will receive their final £400 energy relief payment in April. If Martin's plea to postpone the rise is successful, it means the country won't be as affected by the combined hike and end of government support.
He added: "In October there'll be a new rate but it will stay roughly the same. So that'd be October, November and December at around a £2,160 rate. There's a lot of crystal ball gazing in that. We think that next winter will be roughly 10% - 15% cheaper than the winter that we've just had."
