Martin Lewis confirms lengthy break as he delivers emotional ITV Good Morning Britain exit message

Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis has confirmed that he will be taking a lengthy break from ITV's Good Morning Britain, much to viewers' disappointment.

The financial guru typically co-hosts the show alongside Susanna Reid, reports Manchester Evening News. He became part of the main roster of male hosts back in March 2021, following Piers Morgan's explosive exit from the show.

However, in recent months Martin has also been taking part in a segment called 'Money Mondays', where he answers viewers burning questions, and offers crucial advice. During yesterday's show (December 14), Martin co-hosted the show with Kate Garraway and offered his usual expert opinion.

But as the show came to a conclusion, the 50-year-old confirmed that he would be leaving the show for a period of time. Martin began his heartfelt message by saying: "This is my last programme before Christmas. I won’t be back until March because I’ve got my show coming on in the New Year.

"Can I just wish everybody a very Merry Christmas, a very Happy New Year, and, especially after a Million Minutes, to those of you who will be going through grief and loneliness this Christmas, may you have more smiles than you are expecting, may you have more joy than you’re expecting."

He then added: "And if not, I just hope you get through it and you get through it easily." Co-host Kate then turned to him and grabbed his hand, thanking him for his help.

Kate said: "And can I just say, thank you to you. You've really helped a lot of people this year as you always do and we wish you a Merry Christmas as well as I'm sure Lorraine does too," as the Scottish presenter appeared on-screen to present her self-titled show.

The heartfelt message left viewers feeling quite emotional. One Twitter user said: "I swear @MartinSLewis moves me to tears every time I see him. Such a lovely human being. #gmb."

Another wrote: "That message bought tears to my eyes @MartinSLewis thank you, and a very merry christmas to you and your family."

Martin later took to Twitter to confirm the news of his extended break from GMB. He tweeted: "That's it for me on this year, and prob last time presenting until March (as my shows back in Jan). I hope you found it useful or interesting."

He was inundated with hundreds of support after this post. One fan wrote: "The only reason I ever watch @GMB is when Martin Lewis co-presents. See you again in march then."

Another said: "Thank you for everything you do, I hope you're able to have a lovely break over the festive season!"

And a third concluded: "I think you’re a National Treasure Martin - have a lovely Christmas break."
