Arizona Cardinals outside linebacker Markus Golden led the team in sacks last season with 11 sacks. He did so on a bargain of a deal when he signed last offseason.
His deal is considered among the best in the NFL.
Pro Football Focus ranked the 32 best contracts in the league. Golden’s ranked 15th.
His two-year, $5 million deal is a steal for the Cardinals. Golden did earn an extra $1 million in bonuses for getting to 10 sacks and can earn up to another $2 million in 2022 in incentives in addition to his $2 million salary and $250,000 in per-game roster bonuses.
The Cardinals need him to again a double-digit sack guy in 2022. He is the only proven edge rusher on the roster as things currently stand.
With J.J. Watt earning a lot of money and Kyler Murray set to get a monster deal, Arizona needs contracts like Golden’s to work out.
