Marks and Spencer shoppers think they've spotted a 'shoplifter' in new skirt advert

M&S has been on the receiving end of some pretty unfortunate comments after it shared a snap of one of their latest trendy skirts.

The British retail giant regularly shares snaps of their stylish outfits on their official social media pages and the latest has everyone making the same joke.

Featured in the snap is a model showcasing a trendy monochrome skirt complete with a black skirt and bag to complete the full outfit.

Unfortunately, the positioning of the snap has caused quite the stir among shoppers who think the retailer "needs to fire their agency."

Due to the models face being covered by hair in the snaps, shoppers think they are more 'Crimewatch' rather than high fashion. writes The Manchester Evening News.

One shopper commented: " Thought it was a Crimewatch post."

A second shopper joked: "Time to fire the advertising agency. This add looks more like someone escaping the scene of a crime rather than highlighting the merchandise."

A third shopper commented: "First pic looks like a shoplifter making an exit."

"It looks like someone on the run", joked a fourth shopper.

Luckily, the unfortunate blunder was not the only topic of conversation among shoppers, as quite a few were more positive about the stylish new skirt.

"I have this skirt love it, lovely cool & floaty", wrote one positive shopper.

"I bought this last week. Love it", another happy shopper said.

While a third said: "Oh love this skirt …."

Despite the comments, it looks like crime really does sell, as the Striped Pleated Midaxi Skirt is officially all sold out and unavailable online and in-stores.

M&S have said that the skirt has been "incredibly popular" and shoppers should check a store near them for stock levels.
