Marks and Spencer issues urgent recall on product due to undeclared ingredients

A popular product is being pulled from the Marks and Spencer's shelves due to undeclared ingredients that are not mentioned on the item's label.

M&S are recalling the Count on Us Thai style Green Chicken Curry because some packs contain crustaceans and molluscs which are not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to crustaceans and/or molluscs.

As reported on the Food Standards Agency website, this product will be removed from shelves and customers are urged to return it to stores for a full refund.

The product details are as follows:

  • Pack size: 350 grams
  • Use by date: January 22, 2023

The risk statement reads: "This product may contain crustaceans and molluscs, making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to crustaceans and/or molluscs."

The retailer has issued a recall notice to its customers, which explains to customers why the product is being recalled and tells them what to do if they have bought the product, with the retailers also contacting the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

Marks and Spencer released the following statement in their recall notice: "Please do not consume this product if you have an allergy or intolerance to Mollusc and/or Crustacean. If you wish to exchange the product, you can return it to your nearest store where a full refund will be given.

"Only the displayed date code is impacted. No other M&S products are affected. We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused."

If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to crustaceans and/or molluscs, do not eat it. Instead, return it to your nearest store for a full refund.
