A statue of Margaret Thatcher has been lowered into place despite past threats of “egg throwing”.
A planning committee unanimously voted in favour of the £300,000 statue – which was originally intended for Parliament Square in Westminster - in 2019.
The statue of the divisive former prime minister will be perched on a 10ft-high granite plinth in Thatcher's home town of Grantham, Lincolnshire, later today.
