Boston Celtics starting point guard Marcus Smart was revealed to have made the NBA’s 2021-22 Kia NBA All-Defensive First Team, and teammate Robert Williams III to have been voted onto the NBA’s 2021-22 Kia NBA All-Defensive First Team, per the league in an announcement circulated on Friday evening.
Timelord’s first such honor, the big man shares it with Golden State Warriors big man Draymond Green, the Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo, Philadelphia 76ers guard Matisse Thybulle, and Milwaukee Bucks floor general Jrue Holiday.
Smart, the 2022 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, joined the Phoenix Suns’ Mikal Bridges as the two top vote-getters on the First Team, filled out with Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert, Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr.
Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart of Boston and runner-up Mikal Bridges of Phoenix received the most voting points in balloting for the 2021-22 Kia NBA All-Defensive Team.
