Boston Celtics veteran Marcus Smart was fined $25,000 by the NBA for an altercation with Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young on Saturday night. The two became tangled and fell to floor during a brief spat at the end of regulation in Boston’s 134-125 victory.
Both Smart and Young were assessed technical fouls on the play, and the former was ejected from the game. Young appeared to kick Smart between the legs during an off-balance shot, and Smart reacted angrily. After the game the referee pool report stated Smart received his ejection for “the grab and take down of Trae Young.”
