Marcus Rashford sends classy message to Everton after Man United defeat

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford says he hopes Everton’s fortunes improve after their FA Cup tie.

The Blues were beaten 3-1 by Man United in their FA Cup third round tie at Old Trafford on Friday night. It means that Frank Lampard’s side exit the competition in their first fixture in this year’s edition.

Antony opened the scoring for the home side, before Conor Coady equalised before half-time. But the Everton defender then scored an own goal to put Man United ahead.

Ben Godfrey then gave away a penalty with a foul on Alejandro Garnacho in the closing stages. Rashford scored the spot-kick to seal a 3-1 defeat for the Blues.

Now the Man United forward has spoken about Everton’s recent troubles. The Blues have not won a Premier League fixture since October 22, and Rashford says he hopes that the Blues can return to form soon.

“They’re under a bit of pressure but I thought they’ve done well,” Rashford told ITV Sport at full-time.

“They didn’t panic after they conceded so early on. They got back in the game twice - one was offside - so they’re still fighting for each other and they’re still a team.

“Hopefully things get better for them.”
