Marc Guehi makes Crystal Palace promise ahead of Manchester City Premier League fixture

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is adamant the team will turn recent results around as the prepare for Man City.

The Eagles were defeated 1-0 by Aston Villa on Saturday, their first defeat in three fixtures and following results on Sunday, leaves them five points off the relegation zone.

With the team still searching for their first win of 2023, Guehi believes the team will figure out how to return to winning ways but need to focus on the little moments in games which are costing them wins.

“[Our form is] not great. It’s important that we keep working. I’m sure we’ll find a way to break what’s going on right now," the England international told the club's official website.

“It’s just little moments, little details. In any game we need to score and we need to defend. They’re the basics, and we didn’t do that today. [Every game] we try and win. That’s it.”

According to Guehi, one error cost them any chance of leaving Villa Park with a result, calling Joachim Andersen's own goal a 'poor goal to concede.'

The former Chelsea centre-back also refused to blame Cheick Doucouré's red card for the loss, saying Palace played better football when down to 10 men.

“We’re extremely disappointed. I wouldn’t say we were the better team, but [we had] one lapse in concentration and they scored. I don’t think we created enough to cause them problems, so it’s a disappointing game," he added.

“[The offside call changed] not much, to be honest. We still stuck to the gameplan, but a lapse in concentration from us… we should be doing better. It’s a poor goal to concede, to be honest.

“[After the red card] nothing really changed. We thought we had to be even more aggressive. In those games where you’re 1-0 down, you just have to go to it.

“I think we did have a reaction – even though we went down to 10 men, and we played some good stuff – but it wasn’t enough.”
