Marathon is the next title from Bungie, an extraction shooter set in a dark sci-fi world. After months of uncertainty, the developer has confirmed the game’s new release date, with pre-orders available now and an open preview coming at a later date.
On Jan. 19, Bungie announced that Marathon is releasing on March 5, 2026. Pre-orders for the game are available now and come in three editions: Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s, across Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with full cross-play and cross-save. Every edition grants full access to the game alongside gameplay updates as the year progresses.

Pre-ordering either edition grants a style for a sidearm, a weapon charm, a weapon sticker, a background, and an emblem. For Destiny 2 players, pre-ordering grants the UESC Echo-type Shell Exotic Ghost, UESC Rover Exotic Ship, and UESC Sprinter Exotic Sparrow. The Deluxe edition comes with a couple of extra things: one Premium Rewards Pass Voucher, 200 SILK Rewards Pass Tokens, two weapon styles, and four Runner Shell styles.
Lastly, the Collector’s edition features a 1/6-scale statue of the Thief Runner Shell on the Dire Marsh map, a collectible Sekiguchi WEAVEworm, an embroidered patch, a set of postcards, and undisclosed unique digital rewards.

To celebrate the announcement, Bungie is giving out freebies in Destiny 2. These include a Modern MIDA Multitool ornament for the MIDA Multi-Tool Exotic, Silkworm Weave Legendary shader in Marathon-themed green, and Waiting For Exfil multiplayer emote. Free items will be available in a single bundle from the Eververse Store on Jan. 20, likely after the weekly reset.
Bungie also teased an open preview weekend for you to try the game if you’re not sure about pre-ordering just yet. More information about the preview will be shared at a later date.
