Police officers continue to hunt for a shooter who allegedly killed a 32-year-old man in Hobart's northern suburbs overnight.
Tasmania Police said they were called to a house at Douglas Drive in Bridgewater at 1am, where they found a man with gunshot wounds to his upper body.
He died shortly after police arrived.
The deceased man has been identified as Tye Silver.
Detective Acting Inspector Kelly Taylor said the incident was "targeted", and the victim and alleged shooter were known to each other.
She called for public assistance in tracking down the alleged shooter and the alleged murder weapon.
"There's an extensive investigation underway to locate the offender," she said.
Drones and a team of divers have been employed in the search for the gun, with police officers also combing a tall grassy area near the Douglas Drive home.
Acting Inspector Taylor said a man and a woman are in police custody and assisting officers with their inquiries.
Neighbours report disturbance
A neighbour, who did not want to be identified, said she woke up after hearing a loud bang around 12:30am.
"I went out to have a look but I couldn't see anything," she said.
The woman said the incident made her "very nervous".
Another resident said police woke her around 3am and checked her yard but did not find anything.
