MANGALURU: Bajrang Dal workers are capable of stopping pubs, if they violate the rules and operate late at night. Bajrang Dal district convener Punith Attavar said, “Everyone has the right to operate pubs, but there are specific rules regarding whom should they serve liquor and what time they should close down. Bajrang Dal workers are capable of stopping pubs if they violate the rules and operate late at night.
We extend our maximum support for the drug-free drive that the Mangaluru city police has been carrying out. It is true that Bajrang Dal activists were there at the pub, and they had spoken to the manager. However, there was no attack or commotion, and our men have not entered the pub. Our request to the pub was to send minors out, and it was made through the police department. There is no question of moral policing in it.”
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leaders met BJP MLA Vedavyas Kamath in connection with the pub incident. The delegation headed by VHP divisional secretary Sharan Pumpwell, demanded action against pubs operating beyond time limits. They also asked him to take steps to control drug peddling.
