Manchester United vs Nottingham Forest: Prediction, kick off time, TV, live stream, team news, latest odds

Manchester United will tonight look to finish the job and reach the Carabao Cup final after a resounding 3-0 win away at Nottingham Forest in last week’s semi-final first leg.

Erik ten Hag’s side all but ensured safe passage to Wembley for next month’s final against Newcastle United with such a convincing display at the City Ground and can afford to rest up during Wednesday’s home leg at Old Trafford.

While United, of course, won’t be taking Forest lightly, they could hardly ask for a better situation. Their home form has been fantastic throughout the campaign and it would take something extraordinary to see them knocked out at this stage.

Manchester United vs Nottingham Forest team news

Ten Hag is expected to rotate, such is the strength of United’s lead. Alejandro Garnacho, Harry Maguire, Fred and Victor Lindelof are all among those who could play, while Jadon Sancho has returned to training.

Christian Eriksen, however, is now facing up to four months out of action with ankle injury, joining Scott McTominay on the sidelines. New signing Marcel Sabitzer is not eligable to play.

For Forest, Chris Wood is cup-tied while the injured Dean Henderson would not have been able to play anyway. Wayne Hennessey will start in goal despite Keylor Navas’ deadline-day arrival.

It will be interesting to see how seriously or not Steve Cooper takes the tie. With the game surely gone, perhaps Forest will rest players to instead focus on their Premier League campaign.

Manchester United vs Nottingham Forest prediction

Given the size of United’s lead, it’s likely they will look to contain Forest.

With that in mind, it’s hard to see them scoring quite as many this time around, with ten Hag’s side looking to take the sting out of the game early on.

Man United to win 1-0.
