Three United players can prove a point to Ten Hag in training
United’s pre-season preparations get underway on Monday as the first batch of players report back to Carrington. 15 senior players are expected to begin training, with a number of big names getting an early start.
With the tour to Thailand and Australia just a matter of days away, and the start of the 2022/23 just over a month down the line, new boss Erik ten Hag will be eager to put his new squad through their paces. And among those returning on Monday will be a few select groups.

The likes of David de Gea, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw already have a good idea of their roles, while the likes of Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe, Phil Jones and Anthony Martial all perhaps expect to leave soon. As for Donny van de Beek, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, they have a major point to prove to their new boss.
Three Antony alternatives United can target this summer
Ten Hag will no doubt hope he can welcome Antony to Carrington soon. The United boss has identified his former Ajax star as the ideal target to bolster the Reds’ frontline.
Reports from the Netherlands though have suggested the Brazilian may only be available for a fee of around €70-80m, which could put him outside of United’s budget. Ten Hag could therefore have to look elsewhere.
The right-hand side has proven to be a real problem for United over the years, and it can’t afford to be ignored this summer. With that in mind, Casey Evans has taken a look at three alternatives the Reds could consider bringing in.
