Two Fatal Crashes on California's 60 Freeway, Less Than Two Miles Apart, Trigger Miles of Gridlock

Two fatal crashes less than two miles apart brought the westbound 60 Freeway to a standstill during Monday's morning rush hour, shutting lanes near Mountain Avenue and Central Avenue and backing traffic up for miles towards the 15 Freeway.

The first collision was reported shortly before 6am near Mountain Avenue, where a motorcyclist ended up in freeway lanes. A second crash, involving a semi-truck and a Lexus, was logged at about 6.36am near Central Avenue.
