Manchester United's game in hand could be delayed until final week of season

The Premier League are waiting for the outcomes of Chelsea and Manchester United's European quarter-finals before settling on a date for their rearranged domestic fixture.

United's visit of Chelsea was originally scheduled for the weekend of April 22 but that has been postponed as United reached the FA Cup semi-finals and will play Brighton at Wembley on April 23.

Chelsea face Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals on April 12 and 18 while United take on Sevilla in the last eight of the Europa League over the next 10 days.

Should United or Chelsea progress to a European semi-final, there would only be one available midweek slot to rearrange the fixture at Old Trafford, which would be the week beginning May 22 - the final week of the league season.

United play their last away league game against Bournemouth on the weekend of May 20. Dates and times are yet to be confirmed for matches that weekend.

Should United overcome Sevilla over two legs, they would end their league campaign with two successive home matches as Fulham are their visitors on the final day of the season.

United are currently fourth in the Premier League table and have a game in hand on fifth-placed Tottenham, who trail by three points.

Tottenham host United on April 27.
